India Critical Care Medical Camp
50 young children will come to a medical centre in Chennai, India 5 days a week where they will receive a nutritious meal and vitamins. While there, the volunteers from our hospitals work with the children and tell them about Jesus. Most of the patients belong to the Dalits – the lowest social group in India. These hospitals provide a doctor, nurse, medicine and travel from village to village. At the Gilead and Elim Hospitals in India, our doctors and nurses take care of hundred of needy children, women and men each month, who would otherwise have no access to medical service. Our hospitals are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. The cost is $1200 per month to run the medical camp and hospitals.
Smithers Children’s Village Medical Clinic
Goodwill reaches Africa
The goodwill of Smithereens and Telkwans continues to be felt in a tiny village in sub-Saharan Africa.
The Smithers Children’s Village in Uganda, population 143, now has a medical clinic. Staffed by a nurse practitioner and visited periodically by doctors, the small facility brings much needed health care to the AIDS-orphaned children who live there.
“The people (of Smithers, BC) are so generous” Weme, founder of the Smithers Uganda Committee and member of the board of directors of Childcare Worldwide.
In Uganda, HIV-infected people, outcasts in their society are basically banished from their hometowns to die leaving their children to roam wild with little hope to survive, much less become successful adults. Sponsored children are fed, clothed and loved by a house mother who lives in the home with them. They receive an education, as well as spiritual guidance and counseling to help them overcome trauma.
